Happy National Pecan Day, chocri fans!
Pecans are an important part of Southern American cuisine, and they're also the only tree nuts native to North America. The first pecans were cultivated on Long Island (holla!) by settlers back in 1772, but they were a Native American staple even before that.
The pie-friendly nuts are high in Oleic Acid, shown to lower LDL cholesterol in people with normal lipid levels. But they also contain high levels of zinc, which is associated with an >ahem< enhanced love life. The mighty pecan is probably best known for its prominence in Pecan Pies and Tassies, particularly down south, but it's also tasty in chicken dishes, salads and a ton of other recipes.
Pecans are a popular nut topping in chocri bars, and we've seen some mouth-watering combos featuring them. Pecans pair well with all three varieties of chocri chocolate (milk, white and dark) and also work well with our dried fruit toppings (pineapple or apricot spring to mind) or our confectionary options (pecans and toffee, anyone?)
To mark National Pecan Day, we've got a one day special for all pecan and chocolate lovers. On National Pecan Day, pecans are on us for any chocri bar. Jonesing for some chocolate chess pie? Maybe a milk chocolate base with pecans, cinnamon, bourbon vanilla and toffee bits will help alleviate your craving.
If you take advantage of today's Pecan promotion, please let us know in the comments! We love to hear about your creative chocri combinations.
Whether you celebrate for religious reasons or because you're fond of (square) Easter Eggs, chocri wishes you a fantastic and chocolatey Easter. Hopefully it's sunny where you are, so you can hide your chocri bars in a garden or park! :)
Below an "Easter Impression", thanks to Sascha Hippe, who uploaded this picture to our Facebook Page (thanks!):

Gary Vaynerchuk in three words is Wine, Empathy and BAM!
Wine: Gary Vaynerchuk has a unique (and very fun!) approach to wine. He took the liquor store of his father and turned it into Wine Library, a hugely successful wine business. His unorthodox approach to wine led to him being asked to appear on many TV shows, from Late Night with Conan O'Brien to the Ellen Degeneres Show.
Empathy: But that's not all! Gary is also a New York Times bestselling author with his book "Crush It" that speaks to passion, the social media revolution and business. I was lucky enough to see Gary V's keynote "conversation" (it was mostly Q&A) at South By Southwest, and that's why I picked the word "Empathy" - Gary really gets people. He gets what customers want (that you pay attention to them), and he gets why you and me don't get it, and he explains it for everyone to understand, not just see.
And finally, BAM!: Gary has lots of energy! He is enthusiastic and authentic. He's not shy about who he is and what he wants to say. He captures a room within minutes, and he's (see empathy) kind.
Now that everyone of you know what Gary is about, let me introduce you to his Chocolate Bar:
Gary chose the gold, like a true celebrity, but surprisingly for a wine expert he went for the white chocolate! A delicious bar, with the roasted peanuts, fig bits and bourbon vanilla. This piece of beauty was given out at Gary's #secretwineparty - unbelievable, but he took a huge amount of wine with him to Austin, and gave it out! So I tagged along and gave out chocolate bars. I think people were a little overwhelmed by all the goodness :) It was definitely fun! We had to change location because the line of people outside was so long that it wrapped around the corner and still wouldn't stop (next time you can't get in a club try this line "I'm bringing the chocolate! I have to get in now!" - works wonders. Later in the night, Leo Laporte, Robert Scoble and Kevin Rose came by to hang out and I spoke about chocri for a few seconds on twit.tv, which was pretty cool! And then Robert Scoble tweeted "@chocridotcom, we are eating our chocri bar now and it is awesome!" All in all a successful night!
